COB Dividends Show - August 2019

The Dividends Show is a monthly program dedicated to bringing you all the latest news and information from Mississippi State University's College of Business. Each episode will give you an inside look at the College's programs and events, history, faculty, students, and alumni.

In this episode, Dividends Show host Jeffrey Rupp speaks with MSU alumnus and owner of Traxplus, an equipment dealership that sells new and used forestry, trucking, and construction equipment. During the 2018 football season, small businesses were encouraged to enter the first-ever MWG Business Game-Changer Contest. Weems took a chance, and after hundreds of entries, Traxplus was named the grand prize winner of business services and marketing valued up to $60,000 from MWG Employer Services and Mississippi State Athletics. We also speak with Starkville High School student, Mallory Ann Williams, whose dyslexia diagnosis gave her a bright idea to help others battling with the learning disorder. Williams entered the Innovation Challenge to pitch an app that easily makes accommodations for dyslexics to easily adjust text size, background color, and more. Williams also enrolled in MSU's iCREATE Camp, a camp that provides an exciting pre-college summer program for teens interested in the building a brand or company through fun, hands-on experiences, workshops, and projects. This intensive and innovative program is for high school teens (ages 14-17), which are interested in launching their own business, blog, brand, or website related to fashion, technology, or innovations available to consumers.
