The College of Business family is saddened by the loss of 1978 Marketing alumnus H. Thomas "Tom" McWilliams, who passed away on March 11, 2022 in Jackson. He was 66.
A native of Starkville, McWilliams graduated from Starkville High School before attending MSU. He began his professional career with McRae’s Department Store followed by a banking career in Macon and Meridian. During his 40-year career with the Mississippi Credit Union, McWilliams served as Senior Vice President. Along with many other honors, he was selected by his peers to be the National Credit Union Hero of the Year in 2018.
The McWilliams family have been loyal supporters of Mississippi State for generations and established the McWilliams Family Endowment for Faculty & Student Development Fund. His uncle was MSU football's Thomas "Shorty" McWilliams, a four-time All-SEC football player and member of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.
