The College of Business is saddened by the loss of Julia "Julie" Bennett Rouse, wife of COB Executive Advisory Board member James "Jim" Rouse, who passed away on December 25, 2020.
Julie was raised in Laurel, MS and graduated from George S. Gardner High School. After graduation, she enrolled in Mississippi State College for Women, the “W”. While there, she met Jim Rouse who said, “she had me at hello.” They embarked on a lifelong romantic journey that lasted over 58 years. After moving to Houston, she discovered her love for tennis. For many years, she was active in the Westside Ladies Tennis Association where she played daily and made many wonderful friends.
Over the years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, spending time at their lake house in Horseshoe Bay, TX and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Taylor of Johns Creek, GA and Connie (Bill) Fuller of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren, Chris Taylor, Claire Taylor, Leigh Taylor, Kathleen Fuller, Scott (Jordan) Fuller, Brian Fuller; sister, Gail Gravell of Orlando, FL; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Please keep the Rouse family in your thoughts and prayers.
