Dr. Brandon Cline, Associate Professor of Finance and BancorpSouth Professor of Financial Services, along with co-author Adam Yore from University of Missouri, were recently featured in the Harvard Business Review for their research regarding the correlation between a CEO's age and company performance.
The study comes from a paper co-written by Cline and Yore, titled, "Silverback CEOs: Age, Experience, and Firm Value." In it, they found that many company policies regarding mandatory retirement are put in place to help firms avoid the declining performance associated with older CEOs. But they also found evidence for the importance of executive experience for a company’s financial success.
