Live Case: NNormal & the Kilian Jornet Foundation
Exploring sustainability, purpose-driven branding, and global experiential learning
During the 2025 academic year, students in the Marketing Live Case course partnered with NNormal, an outdoor sports brand co-founded by Kilian Jornet and Camper. Built around durability, sustainability, and purposeful design, NNormal provided students with the opportunity to consult on real-world marketing and brand strategy challenges while working alongside a globally recognized values-driven company.
Co-taught by Dr. Emily Dellinger Stokes and Dr. Myles Landers, the course challenged students to think critically about how brands can balance business growth with environmental and social responsibility. Throughout the semester, students collaborated directly with NNormal leadership to develop strategic recommendations and gain insight into the evolving outdoor sports industry.
Key Experiences
- Partnered directly with NNormal executives and marketing leadership on a live consulting project
- Explored sustainable branding and purpose-driven business strategy through real-world application
- Traveled to Mallorca, Spain, to visit NNormal headquarters and present consulting progress updates
- Learned firsthand about brand storytelling, product innovation, and sustainability initiatives within the outdoor industry
- Participated in experiential outdoor activities including snowshoeing and hiking in La Cerdanya
- Engaged with the Kilian Jornet Foundation to learn about environmental advocacy and community impact initiatives
- Connected classroom learning with global business practices, leadership development, and cultural immersion
During spring break, students traveled internationally to meet with the NNormal team at the company’s headquarters in Mallorca. There, students presented progress on their consulting projects and gained behind-the-scenes insight into the company’s mission, operations, and approach to sustainability-focused innovation.
Following their time in Mallorca, students traveled to La Cerdanya, where they partnered with the Kilian Jornet Foundation to learn more about environmental stewardship and outdoor accessibility initiatives. Through hiking and snowshoeing experiences in the mountains, students explored the relationship between sustainability, leadership, and purposeful business practices while experiencing the outdoor culture that inspires the NNormal brand.
“This experience challenged our students to think beyond traditional business strategy and consider how companies can create meaningful impact through their values, products, and community engagement. Opportunities like this show students how business can truly be a force for good.”
