Summary:

Alvaro G. Taboada is the Cadence Bank Associate Professor of Finance. He joined Mississippi State University in 2016 and was previously a faculty member at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Taboada worked for six years as an international bank examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and is a CFA charter holder. His research focuses on banking, banking regulation, and international corporate governance. Dr. Taboada’s research has been published in leading academic journals including The Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, The Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Finance, The Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Journal of Banking and Finance. His research has been presented at major academic conferences, including the American Finance Association, the European Finance Association, the Financial Intermediation Research Society, the Northern Finance Association, and the Financial Management Association. His work has been featured in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation, the London School of Economics Business Review, Forbes, CFA Institute Journal Review, All About Alpha, and Strategy Business. He teaches courses in financial markets and institutions and in international finance at the undergraduate level, and a PhD seminar in financial institutions. He is co-editor of Emerging Markets Review and serves as subject editor for the Journal of Multinational Financial Management. He is a past president of the Southern Finance Association.
