Summary:
Alvaro G. Taboada is the BancorpSouth Associate Professor of Finance. He joined Mississippi State University in 2016 and was previously a faculty member at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Taboada worked for six years as an international bank examiner for the Miami Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and is a CFA charter holder. His research interests include banking, banking regulation, and international corporate governance. Dr. Taboada’s research has been published in leading academic journals including The Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, The Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Journal of Banking and Finance. His research has been presented at major academic conferences, including those of the American Finance Association, the European Finance Association, the Northern Finance Association, the Financial Management Association, and the Financial Intermediation Research Society. His work has been featured in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation, the London School of Economics Business Review, Forbes, and Strategy-Business. He teaches courses in financial markets and institutions and in international finance at the undergraduate level, and a PhD seminar in financial institutions. He has taught courses in commercial and investment banking at the MBA level.
