PGA Golf Management Program Director Jeff Adkerson Completes Advanced Certification

4-7-15 - The leader of Mississippi State's PGA Golf Management academic program now holds advanced certification status with the Professional Golfers' Association of America.

Jeff Adkerson became director in 2007 after serving as assistant director for four years. He is a 1999 marketing/PGM graduate of the university's College of Business, where he also completed an MBA in 2005.

An enhanced, all-digital training and education curriculum, the PGA CPP 2.0 platform is designed to ensure that PGA members have the skills, competencies and training demanded by employers and customers throughout the golf industry.

Among nearly a dozen other PGA professionals recently completing the certification process, Adkerson heads the second oldest PGA Golf Management collegiate program sanctioned by the Florida-based association.

In addition to serving as vice president of the Gulf States PGA, Adkerson is a former president of the Professional Golf Management Education Association. He is a four-time selection for its Gulf Section's prestigious Horton Smith Award and two-time selection as the Mississippi Chapter's Golf Professional of the Year.

In 2013, he was named the 2013 Gulf States PGA Golf Professional of the Year, the highest recognition for members in Mississippi and Louisiana.
