Magnolia Finance Conference - Friday, March 28, 2014
3-28-14 - Mississippi has long been known for hospitality and traditions. We are pleased to announce the beginning of a new tradition, The Magnolia Finance Conference, sponsored by the Department of Finance and Economics at Mississippi State University, The John Nutie and Edie Dowdle Endowment, and The Charles Koch Foundation. The goal of the conference is to promote academic research while sharing some southern hospitality with our guests.
The first-ever Magnolia Finance Conference will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm at Mississippi State University. We have an outstanding lineup of scholars who will present their research. These presentations will be held in Fowlkes Auditorium, located on the 3rd floor of the Colvard Student Union on campus. The schedule for the event is as follows:
8:30 am - Registration: Entrance to Fowlkes Auditorium, Colvard Student Union- 3rd Floor
9:00 am – Presenter: Dr. David Becher, Drexel University
Paper: “Does It Pay to Stay? An Examination of Long-Term Advisor Relationships”
10:15 am – Presenter: Dr. Shawn Mobbs, University of Alabama
Paper: “CEO Appearance”
11:30 am – Lunch: Old Main Lounge, Colvard Student Union- 2nd Floor
1:15 pm – Presenter: Dr. Beverly Marshall, Auburn University
Paper: “The Impact of Buzz on Internet IPO Valuation: Is It All Hype?”
2:30 pm – Presenter: Dr. Daniel Bradley, University of South Florida
Paper: “Before an Analyst Becomes an Analyst: Does Industry Experience Matter?”
