Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

Mission

The mission of the MSBDC and MSU Small Business Development Center is to provide services and support that will enable the state of Mississippi to become the leading environment for small business success in the nation.


Major Program Objectives

  • Counsel and train existing business owners to be more economically viable
  • Counsel and train entrepreneurs to assist them in starting businesses that are competitive in the market place

Function

The Mississippi State University Small Business Development Center in Starkville, MS was established in 1981 to assist small business owners and entrepreneurs. Our center is one of eight located in Mississippi. Our service area covers ten counties surrounding the Golden Triangle Area. The counties include: Kemper, Lauderdale, Lowndes, Montgomery, Oktibbeha, Noxubee, Webster, Clay, Monroe, and Choctaw.

We are a free service sponsored by the MSU College of Business. We do not provide loans. All information discussed is confidential. We can assist you in your efforts to create a business plan for expansion of your present business or the start-up of a new business.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs in the Mississippi State University Small Business Development Center area are invited to take advantage of our services.
