BIO

Alvaro Taboada is the Interim BancorpSouth Assistant Professor of Finance at Mississippi State University. Prior to joining Mississippi State University, he was an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Taboada worked for six years as an international bank examiner for the Miami Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. His research interests span many areas within corporate finance, including banking, banking regulation, corporate governance, and international financial markets. Dr. Taboada’s research has been published in leading academic journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Journal of Banking and Finance. His research has been presented at major academic conferences, including those of the American Finance Association, the European Finance Association, and the Financial Management Association. He teaches courses in financial markets and institutions and in international finance at the undergraduate level, and has taught courses in commercial and investment banking at the MBA level and a PhD seminar in financial institutions. Professor Taboada is a CFA charter holder since 2002.
